A recent ShesConnected survey of U.S. women who were active social network user points out the importance of blogs. Better than 8 in 10 women read blogs and over half have started their own blog.

88% – Watch video clips online
84% – Read blogs
82% – Upload pictures to a website
78% – Leave comments on sites
52% – Started my own blog
48% – Subscribe to an RSS feed

No wonder the number of companies focusing efforts to the female blogger is dramatically increasing. Among registrants at the BlogHer conference, over half were contacted weekly by public relations professional with the most active bloggers getting daily contact.
The lesson for marketers, realize the power of the female blogger and work with them in the same fashion you work with professional journalist.

Thought it was interesting to see the acutal numbers of women who participate in online networking and blogging.
